July Bird Count

posted 08/06/2010

The count of the San Dieguito Lagoon Area Monthly Bird Survey is in its seventh month. A total of 154 species has been seen in the five count areas which range from the ocean to Fairbanks Ranch Village. The July count observed 88 bird species.

This count is affiliated with that of the San Dieguito River Park, whose rangers oversee the area and give us entry to areas closed to the public. So join us!  We meet at the south (dead) end of San Andres Drive on the east side of the Albertson's shopping center across from Flower Hill. Exit Via de la Valle from I- 5, go east about one half mile and you'll see Albertson's on the south side of the street.  The count begins at 7:30 AM on the second Sunday of each monthWe tally the species seen at 11:30 A.M.. Bring a lunch, and enjoy your new hobby. Beginners are welcome. Don't forget your binoculars.
