The Friends is one of several groups concerned with preservation of the San Dieguito River Valley. 

What's the difference?

San Dieguito River Valley Regional Open Space Park Joint Powers Authority

is a single-purpose government agency authorized by its member agencies, the County of San Diego, and the cities of Del Mar, Escondido, Poway, San Diego and Solana Beach, to create a greenway and open space park in the River Valley.

San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy

is a private, non-profit organization established to locate and develop sources of funds for land acquisition; secure gifts and bequests of land and money; work with other public and private organizations to acquire land.

City of Del Mar: San Dieguito Lagoon Preservation Committee

is charged with overseeing the preservation and enhancement of the San Dieguito Lagoon. The Committee participates on both local and regional levels.
